Or are people using memes because they don’t know how to express themselves with words or, more likely, just can’t be bothered
Or even more likely, because they are ‘trending’ and popular.
“Oh the actual point? Ah I’m not really sure now, just thought it was funny and my followers loved it do you know what ah mean?”
Forgive me for the rant, I’m no Einstein, but is that what it takes to get engagement now in 2020? The populist vote?
Stick up any old meme because you can’t be arsed to explain yourself or articulate your message
Don’t get me wrong, memes can be good, and effective.
I just feel they are used as a ‘cover all’ – a ‘content crutch’ if you like.
Some of the posts here on LinkedIn make me feel like I should be using memes and images more to get more views and more likes.
Bollocks to that. I’ve never chased the populist vote and I’m not going to start now.
Images fine, a good image that ties in with your message and is relevant = cool.
Unimaginative memes, photos of babies/young children, mixed messages for the sake of ‘content’ = Never cool.
What do you think?
